PAQOCHA ALPACA is a privately owned New Zealand alpaca stud breeding suri alpaca. We are proud to provide high quality animals and a first class stud service. Our friendly, efficient and professional customer service is well regarded by our many clients.

We also enjoy the competition in the Show Ring and appreciate the value of a "Champion". To have a look at our show results, click here.

Our animals can be found all around the country, but also as far as France and Sweden. We are pleased to have achieved export quality with our breeding and are aiming to continue our cooperation with foreign breeders through export. Besides English, we speak Swedish and Hungarian .

The farm is set in the beautiful Gibbston Valley, just outside Queenstown in Central Otago. We are surrounded by vineyards and are only minutes away from the Kawarau Bungy Bridge (the birth place of bungy) and the historic mining town of Arrowtown.

The name for the farm was inspired by South America with its rich Inca history. Paqocha (pronounced pack-ot-cha) means Alpaca in Quechua which is an indigenous language of the Andean region. Quechua was the official language of the Inca Empire and is still spoken today by approximately 13 million people in Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Northern Chile, Argentina and Southern Colombia.

We would welcome the opportunity to introduce you to the wonderful world of alpacas.

Alpacas belong to the camelid family and are descendants from the ancient camel. Domesticated thousands of years ago as part of the South American lifestyle and treasured by the Inca Empire. Called "fibre of the Gods" the luxurious alpaca fleece was reserved for clothing royalty. Today alpaca is continued to be bred for its fleece.

We have facilitated several exports of alpacas to Scandinavia since 2010, selecting breeding stock from the best of NZ's huacaya and suri herds. We welcome your enquires, whether it is for a single special alpaca or a hand picked group. Small numbers can join a scheduled export but we can also arrange a single crate (12-13) tailored to your needs.
